SMOKIES EARN BOUNCE BACK WIN IN MOBILE

MOBILE, AL - The Tennessee Smokies ended their three-game losing streak on Monday night with an 11-3 victory over the Mobile BayBears in Mobile. Tennessee's offense compiled 10 hits and 6 walks in the blowout win. 
Eddy Martinez opened the scoring in the second inning when he singled to center field, scoring Ian Rice and Trent Giambrone to give the Smokies a 2-0 lead. Jesse Hodges added to the lead with a single to center field of his own, bringing home Martinez to make it 3-0. Charcer Burks wrapped up the big second inning with an RBI-single that scored Hodges and gave Tennessee a 4-0 advantage. 
The Smokies offense got back to work in the fourth inning, as Daniel Spingola brought home Giambrone on a single and made it a 5-0 game. After Burks and Trey Martin drew back-to-back walks to load the bases, Zack Short hit a bases-clearing triple to center field. It was the first triple of the season for Short and gave Tennessee an 8-0 lead. Mobile got one run back on a solo home run in the bottom of the inning, making it 8-1. 
Tennessee piled on three more runs in the seventh inning when Martinez hit a three-run home run to left field, scoring Short and Rice. The fourth home run of the season for Martinez made it 11-1. A walk and three hits in the bottom of the frame led to two runs for the BayBears, trimming the deficit to 11-3. 
Duncan Robinson started on the mound for the Smokies. Robinson pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits. He did not walk anyone and struck out four. Robinson was relieved by Ryan McNeil to start the seventh inning. McNeil threw 1.0 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk before handing the ball to Wyatt Short. It was the first appearance for Short since he was promoted from Single-A Myrtle Beach. Short pitched 2.0 shutout innings to close the game in his debut. 
Tennessee and Mobile are set to play the final game of the series on Tuesday at 7:35 p.m. The Smokies will look to split the series at three games each with a win in tomorrow's contest.
