South Bend, IN: It is do or die for the South Bend Cubs this week at Four Winds Field against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. And on Friday night, they played exactly that way.

With a record now of 4-0 at home against the TinCaps this year, the Cubs grinded out yet another one run victory after beating Lake County last night 10-9 in 10 innings. Tonight, a 3-2 W over the TinCaps puts the Cubs within just two games of the wild card currently held by the West Michigan Whitecaps.
The TinCaps opened the scoring against starter Ryan Williams to open the top of the 4th inning. Two doubles in the inning put them up 1-0 thanks to the second by Gabriel Arias into left field.
The Cubs would not stay down long, and neither did Williams. The right hander settled in and tossed 6.2 innings of one run ball and struck out five. He took a no-decision.
South Bend's offense turned the corner starting in the bottom of the 6th inning on a RBI sac fly by Rafael Narea. Narea's sixth RBI in two days tied the game at 1-1.
In the 7th, Delvin Zinn and Cam Balego teamed up to drive in the tying and game winning RBI, respectfully. Zinn's chopper hit down the first base line skipped past the diving Jalen Washington into right field. Austin Filiere came around to score.
The next batter was Balego. Looking for his first hit of the night, he ripped a fastball into left field and plated Zinn. Just like that, it was a 3-2 Cubs lead.
Out of the bullpen, Maikel Aguiar shut the door and pitched 2.1 innings to end the game. With three strikeouts, Aguiar earned his first win in a South Bend uniform.
The Cubs now escalate their record to 61-68 on the season moving into a doubleheader tomorrow night. Game one is set to get going at 5:30 PM from Four Winds Field. Game two will follow about 30 minutes after the first game's conclusion.
