Bees Lose Fifth Straight, 4-3

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (31-41) lost their fifth game in a row, losing 4-3 to the Peoria Chiefs (33-39) on Saturday night at Community Field. 

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (31-41) lost their fifth game in a row, losing 4-3 to the Peoria Chiefs (33-39) on Saturday night at Community Field. 

Peoria scored the first four runs of the game, taking the lead in the first inning. With one out, Stefan Trosclair doubled to right field and then scored when Brian O'Keefe doubled to left field, giving the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
The Chiefs opened their lead in the third inning. Shane Billings ripped a double to right field and then scored when Trosclair homered to right field, extending the Chiefs lead to 3-0. Matt Fiedler continued his big series by tripling to right field and then scored on a one-out single from J.R. Davis, making it a 4-0 lead.
Brennan Morgan put the Bees on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run to left, his third of the season, cutting the deficit to 4-1. 
The Bees made it a one-run game in the eighth. Derek Jenkins started the inning with a walk and then stole second base. With two outs, Jordan Zimmerman doubled to right, scoring Jenkins. Sam McDonnell then singled up the middle, scoring Zimmerman, cutting the Chiefs' lead to 4-3.
The Bees could not get any closer as Peoria reliever Eric Carter (6) picked up the four-out save. Peoria starter Mike O'Reilly (5-2) earned the win while Nate Bertness (3-6) was charged with the loss.
