Jenkins collects two hits in loss

(Bowling Green, KY) - The Burlington Bees (43-53) were held to just one run in a 4-1 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods (47-47) on Thursday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. 

(Bowling Green, KY) - The Burlington Bees (43-53) were held to just one run in a 4-1 loss to the Bowling Green Hot Rods (47-47) on Thursday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. 

Bowling Green opened the first inning with a pair of errors and a single to load the bases. Jesus Sanchez then gave the Hot Rods their first lead of the series with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Lucius Fox, giving the Hot Rods a 1-0 lead.
Stephen Kerr opened the third inning by reaching on an error and then moved to second on a groundout. Derek Jenkins put the Bees on the board, lining a single to center, scoring Kerr, tying the game at two.
The Hot Rods responded in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Josh Lowe and Garrett Whitley singled, putting runners on the corners. Jesus Sanchez grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring Lowe, putting the Hot Rods back on top, 2-1. 
Bowling Green went on to add two more runs in the fifth inning thanks to a RBI double from Robbie Tenerowicz and a RBI single by Bobby Melley, extending the lead to 4-1.
Bowling Green starter Angel Yepez (2-0) earned the win while Nate Bertness (3-8) was charged with the loss. Orlando Romero (6) picked up the save. The Bees and Hot Rods finish the series on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. at Bowling Green Ballpark as Erik Manoah Jr. makes the start for the Bees against Kenny Rosenberg for the Hot Rods. 
NOTES: A fourth inning walk was the first walk issued by Bees' pitching in 23.2 innings. The Bees were held without a hit in the final five innings.
