VANCOUVER, BC – Minor League Baseball has named Canadians starter Devereaux Harrison as the Northwest League Pitcher of the Month for June. It’s the first time a C’s player has earned the circuit’s highest monthly honor and the seventh league distinction for a Vancouver pitcher this year.

The right-hander posted eye-popping numbers last month. He went 3-0 with a 0.78 ERA in four starts while limiting opponents to a .182 batting average and K’ed 20 batters with eight walks over 23.0 innings of work.

Harrison, 22, had not started a professional game before May 21 and got two starts under his belt that month before climbing the slope on June 4 against Eugene. He logged his first quality start as a pro with six innings of one-run ball to earn the win then took the hill on June 10 in Everett for a historic turn. That night, the Vacaville, CA native led the way with six hitless innings that featured a career-best eight strikeouts in what became a seven-inning combined no-hitter, the first Vancouver no-no this millennium.

Another six shutout innings were posted by Harrison on June 17 against Hillsboro to earn his third consecutive victory then he wrapped up the month with a five-inning outing at PK Park that saw him surrender one run on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

A ninth-round pick in 2022 out of Long Beach State, Harrison owns a 2.20 career ERA in 61.1 professional innings. All but seven of those stanzas have come in a Canadians uniform.

With their ticket punched for the 2023 playoffs, Harrison and the C’s are on the road in Hillsboro through Sunday this week and return to Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium after the All-Star Break on Friday, July 14. Tickets for those games and the rest of the season are available now at CanadiansBaseball.com.
