Late Rally leads to extra innings win for Bees
Bees score two runs in the last two innings, and get the walk off win in the 12th vs Beloit
Burlington, IA. - The Burlington Bees (22-27) won a long and action packed game on Memorial Day, defeating the Beloit Snappers (21-25) 5-4 in twelve innings. Austin Krzeminski (2-2) was clutch for the Bees bullpen tonight, pitching the final three innings of the game, allowing just one unearned run, on just two hits, and two strikeouts. Ty Damron (2-2) who got a victory in Saturday's game, suffered the loss after giving up the winning run in the bottom of the 12th. With today's win, Burlington takes the series against the Snappers three games to one and are now 5-5 in their last ten games.
Snappers go ahead early
Jesus Lopez scored the first run of the game for the Snappers in the top of the second, on a homerun to left for his fourth of the season and giving the Snappers a 1-0 lead. In the third, Skyler Weber lead off the inning with his sixth double of the season, but Burlington got back to back fly outs to get to two outs. However, Lazaro Armenteros lined a single on a 1-2 count barely over Bees second basemen Leonardo Rivas, giving the Snappers a 2-0 lead.
Bees and Snappers go back and forth late
Bees were looking very quiet on offense, getting shutout in the first five innings. Rivas got the Bees going in the sixth on a lead-off single, that went of pitcher Wyatt Marks' glove. Rivas would steal second and advance to third, due to a throwing error by the catcher Skyler Weber on the throw out attempt. Keinner Pina would hit a soft grounder between the mound and third, which was enough to score Rivas, making the score 2-1.
In the top of the eighth, Mickey McDonald got hit by a pitch, and stole second for his ninth steal of the season and stole third for his tenth steal of the season. McDonald would score two batters later on a wild pitch, giving the Snappers a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the eight, Zane Gurwitz drew a one out walk, and Rivas hit a single to left, putting runners on first and second. Torii Hunter Jr. would hit what looked like a double play, however on the shortstop Jesus Large would throw the ball away from second basemen Trace Loehr, and Loehr would not be able to make the catch, which resulted all the runners being safe. Gurwitz would score on a sacrifice fly from Pina, making the score 3-2 Snappers.
After a flyout from Julio Garcia to start the ninth, Gleyvin Pineda singled to right, putting the tying run
on base. After a strikeout from Spencer Griffin, Jeyson Sanchez hit a double to left that was about two inches away from being foul, Pineda easily scored from first, and the Bees tied the game 3-3.

Crazy extra innings leads to Bees win
Both teams managed to get their place runner to third base in the tenth innings, but neither club managed to drive in a run.
Armenteros started the eleventh on second for Beloit and advanced to third after a leadoff single by Hunter Hargrove. Logan Farrar would then hit a hard ground ball to short, which allowed Armenteros to score, giving Beloit a 4-3 lead. In the Bees eleventh, Griffin and Garcia would get out right away, and the Bees quickly found themselves down to their last out. Luckily, Gleyvin Pineda came up big with a two out single to center, which allowed Burlington to tie the game 4-4. Bees would then load the bases on back to back walks, but Gurwitz would ground out to second to end the inning.
Beloit would start the twelfth with a single as well, but it would be on a bunt attempt by Nick Allen. Although Allen was safe at first, Jesus Lopez couldn't advance to third, allowing the Bees to have a force play at any base but home. Skyler Weber then grounded into a double play, but Lopez did manage to advance to third. Krzeminski then struck out Jesus Lage to end the inning.
Beloit quickly retired Rivas on a fly out bunt attempt and a fly out by Hunter in the bottom of the twelfth, and it looked like we were heading to inning thirteen. Luckily for the Burlington, Pina came up clutch on a single to center, easily scoring Gurwitz from second, giving the Bees a walk off 5-4 victory

Bees find a way to win despite struggles
Burlington fell behind early in the game and looked defeated after falling behind by two runs in the eighth inning. Luckily, Burlington came up clutch with three hits with two outs, leading to three of their five runs. Burlington went just 2-17 with runners for scoring position tonight, but when the game was on the line late, Pina, Sanchez, and Pineda came up clutch for the Bees. What ultimately cost Beloit the game was the error in the eighth inning. Had Beloit completed that play, it would have been a double play, ending the inning. Burlington would not have gotten their eighth inning run and would have had to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
King Bee player of the game
Today's King Bee was Keinner Pina. Although he was just 1-5, he drove in three of the five runs, including the game winner. Not only did Pina get the exciting walk off hit, but he was behind the plate the whole game. Pina was behind the plate for forty at bats for the Snappers, with a temperature reaching up to 96 degrees. Just imagine having to wear a catcher's mask, chess plate, and knee pads for twelve innings. In fact, there was a pause in action when Snappers catcher Weber had to talk to the trainer, because he was feeling the effects of the heat. Pina deserves a ton of credit for a big day at the plate and staying behind the plate the whole game.
Looking ahead
Burlington will look to take the momentum they gained from this series on the road when they take on the Peoria Chiefs. Bees will play a double header tomorrow beginning at 5pm. Both teams are yet to announce their starters for tomorrow, but Burlington will most likely start Luis Madero in game one, and Mitchell Traver in game two. Burlington and Peoria were supposed to play a four game series in the first series of the season, but two games were cancelled due to weather. Peoria won one game 4-2, and Burlington won a game two days later in Peoria 9-3.
