JUPITER, Fla. (September 1, 2017) - The Fort Myers Miracle (41-24) and Jupiter Hammerheads (32-32) combined for just one run on Friday night. Jupiter's tally in the bottom of the first was enough to spoil LHP Anthony Marzi's (L, 0-1) FSL debut as the Hammerheads defeated the Miracle 1-0.
Marzi allowed a first-inning RBI-single to Colby Lusignan scoring Junior Arrojo but shut down the Jupiter offense from there. He struck out five over six innings allowing four hits (three singles in the first) and retired the final 11 batters he faced.
On the other side, RHP Ben Meyer (W, 4-3) tossed five scoreless against the Miracle offense, fanning seven men in the process. MLB-rehabber LHP Wei-Yin Chen put up zeros in the sixth and seventh while RHP Felipe Gonzalez (Sv, 5) picked up a six-out save to close out the game.
The Miracle advanced one runner beyond first base in the contest as Jermaine Palacios was stranded at third to end the third inning. With their four leadoff baserunners over the nine innings, Fort Myers subsequently grounded into three double plays.
The Miracle are back at home on Saturday at 6:05 PM ET with LHP Lachlan Wells opposing Jupiter's LHP Scott Squier.
