FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 8, 2018) - The Fort Myers Miracle used three home runs to beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs 6-3 Tuesday night, evening the series at Hammond Stadium.
Fort Myers (15-17) left fielder Mark Contreras connected on two solo shots before the final home run decided the game.
With the Stone Crabs (16-16) leading 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Charlotte starter Willy Ortiz walked Joe Cronin with one out before getting a fly ball. With two outs, the Stone Crabs brought in Adrian Navas (0-1), who allowed a two-run home run to Jaylin Davis, giving the Miracle a 4-3 lead.
Despite the rough sixth inning, Ortiz pitched well, going 5.2 innings while allowing only four hits and one walk. Ortiz retired 12 batters in a row before allowing Contreras' second home run.
The Miracle added two runs in the eighth and got 3.1 scoreless innings out of reliever Ryan Mason (2-1) to seal the win.
Charlotte did capture the lead early when Lucius Fox lined the first pitch of the game out of park to right to give the Stone Crabs a quick 1-0 advantage.

With the game tied at one in the top of the second, David Rodríguez drew a walk before Tristan Gray singled him to third. Peter Maris followed by lining a single into right, giving Charlotte a 2-1 lead.
The Stone Crabs added another run in the fifth on a Jesús Sánchez single before the Miracle took the lead in the following inning.
The Stone Crabs will look to win Wednesday's rubber game at 7 p.m. Brock Burke (1-3, 6.15) will pitch for Charlotte against Charlie Barnes (0-3, 5.14) of Fort Myers. Coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
