The River Cats bullpen struggled all night as DJ Snelten and Roberto Gomez surrendered four hits, four walks, and two runs in just 3.1 innings. Gomez did strike out four, including striking out the side in the eighth to escape a bases-loaded jam, but the Rainiers offense eventually broke through to tie the game in the ninth and win it in the 10th.
Tim Federowicz homered for Sacramento, his fifth of the year, to give the River Cats a 2-1 lead in the fifth. Two batters later, Ali Castillo knocked in Ryder Jones for his 18th RBI. The River Cats were unable to add on after the fifth, going 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position and leaving five me on base.
Andrew Suárez (3-3, 4.98) will take the mound tomorrow for Sacramento. Tacoma will counter with Christian Bergman (7-1, 3.59). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live on the air on ESPN 1320 and online at rivercats.com.
