ALTOONA, Pa. (April 6, 2023)Luis De Los Santos drove in a game-high four runs, including a three-run double, to propel the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, to an 8-2 victory over the Altoona Curve at Peoples Natural Gas Field in the 2023 season opener.

De Los Santos went 2-for-3 in the ballgame and opened the scoring for New Hampshire with a bases-clearing double off Kyle Nicolas (0-1) in the 2nd to give the Fisher Cats an early 3-0 lead. He grounded another run-scoring double down the line in the 6th, plating Damiano Palmegiani. Will Robertson scored on the play as well after an Altoona error in left field. It was De Los Santos’ first four-RBI game since he plated a season-high four runs last year on July 1 at Portland.

Robertson and Zac Cook chipped in with RBI singles of their own in the 6th, part of a four-run inning for the Fisher Cats that widened their lead to 7-1.

Palmegiani, Leo Jimenez, and PK Morris all collected hits in their Double-A debuts. Palmegiani collected his first Double-A RBI after being hit by a pitch in the 9th.

Right-hander Sem Robberse received the Opening Day start for New Hampshire. The Blue Jays No. 7 prospect struck out eight batters in 4.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on 75 pitches. The eight strikeouts was one shy of his season-high from last year.

Alejandro Melean (1-0) earned the win after pitching two shutout and hitless innings out of the bullpen beginning in the 6th. Parker Caracci finished the night for the Fisher Cats with two innings of one-run ball, including the game-ending strikeout to seal New Hampshire’s first win of the season.

The Fisher Cats continue the three-game road series against the Curve Friday at 6:00 p.m. The Fisher Cats return home for a six-game series against the Future Red Sox (Portland Sea Dogs) beginning next Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Tickets are available at NHFisherCats.com, via email at [email protected], over the phone at (603) 641-2005, or in-person at the Fisher Cats box office at 1 Line Drive in Manchester.
