The 'Dogs got rolling in the first inning. Jarren Duran and C.J. Chatham laced back-to-back singles, Joey Curletta drew a walk to load the bases and Marcus Wilson brought two home with a single. Brett Netzer walked to re-load the bases when Jeremy Rivera was hit by a pitch to push Portland to a 3-0 lead, chasing starter Michael Baumann from the game.
Bowie broke the shut out in the fifth inning on an RBI single by T.J. Nichting to cut Portland's lead 3-1.
Konner Wade finished the evening after six innings of work, the lone run after five hits and three strikeouts.
The Baysox pulled even in the seventh inning. Jessie Valentin scored on an error and Ryan Ripken pushed an RBI single for a 3-3 game.
Preston Palmiero took Bowie's first lead of the evening in the eighth inning after drawing a bases-loaded walk. Nichting drew insurance with a two-run single to advance 6-3.
Portland bats were stymied until the final frame. Duran led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a miscue from Baysox hurler Chrisitan Alvarado (3-3, 3.25 ERA). Chatham singled to drive in Duran and cut the lead 6-4. Luke Tendler took a base on balls to place two runners on. With two outs in an 0-2 count, Wilson blasted a 386-foot home run to claw back on top 7-6.
Dedgar Jimenez put Bowie away to collect his third save. Matthew Gorst (2-6, 5.12) was awarded the win through 1.1 innings of relief at the point in which Portland rallied.
The Sea Dogs and Bowie Baysox (Orioles affiliate) continue the three-game series on Saturday night with a 6:35 first pitch from Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. Righty Denyi Reyes (6-9, 3.77) takes on Baysox righty Tyler Herb (1-2, 7.71).
