The Orem Owlz lost their first game of the season at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls by a short margin of 8-7.
The loss was only Orem's second against the Idaho Falls Chukars this season.
Starting pitcher Mitchell Traver picked up the loss, giving up five earned runs in his four innings.
Owlz pitcher Johnny Morell made his Pioneer League debut in the game, giving up three runs (two earned) in an innings and two thirds of work.
The decisive run in the game came home when Owlz left fielder dropped a pop fly that allowed Chris Hudings to score, making the game at the time 8-4 Idaho Falls.
The Owlz went on to make the game close, scoring three runs in the eighth inning to account for the final score of 8-7.
Torii Hunter Jr. Jr. racked up a team-high three runs batted in for Orem, while Jo Adell piled up a team-high three hits at the top of the lineup.
Owlz righty Jeremy Beasley ended the game for Orem with two and a third scoreless innings, allowing his team to make one last run at the win.
After Andrew Beckwith recorded two outs in the ninth inning for Idaho Falls, Manuel Guzman then drew a 10-pitch walk and moved to third base on a single by Julio Garcia.
Harrison Wenson then proceeded to strike out, ending the game with the tying and go-ahead runs on base.
The loss drops Orem to 20-13 in the second half of the season, still one game behind the Ogden Raptors for first place in the Pioneer League South standings.
The loss was Orem's final road game of the regular season, as they ended with a record of 26-12 on the road in the regular season.
The Owlz will return home to finish out the regular season with a five-game home stand, beginning with three straight games vs. the Idaho Falls Chukars.
