Fightin Phils Welcome Portland Sea Dogs for Three Game Weekend Series
(Reading, PA) — The Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, return home Friday following the All-Star break to take on the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The three-game homestand begins Friday at 7 p.m. and concludes Sunday night before an off-day Monday.

Friday’s festivities include an appearance by wrestling superstar and legend “Swoggle” with a free autograph session and a postgame firework show. Celebrate like Yacht Rock legend Jimmy Buffett Saturday night with a tribute to “Margaritaville.” R-Phils players will wear Margaritaville jerseys with an auction and raffle. The night will conclude with Carpenter MEGA BLAST FIREWORKS — the largest fireworks show in stadium history — sponsored by Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, honoring Emergency Responders.
Cap the weekend with Photo Day for all kids Sunday at 4:00 p.m. The first 2,000 kids in attendance will receive an Alec Bohm R-Phils Jersey T-Shirt courtesy of Rotary House Print Works.
The Fightin Phils enter off a six-game road trip against the Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Reading went 3-3 in Chesapeake, entering the homestand off a win. Outfielder Cade Fergus slashed an impressive 1.212 OPS in 12 at-bats while starters Chuck King, Jean Cabrera and Griff McGarry combined for three earned runs in 16.0 innings.
The Sea Dogs are coming into Baseballtown off a split six-game set with the Hartford Yard Goats, the Colorado Rockies' Double-A affiliate. Portland batted .237 against Hartford and moved to 7-11 in the second half, one game behind Reading.
Top 30 Boston Red Sox prospects include newly acquired No. 5 prospect James Tibbs III, pitchers David Sandlin, Connelly Early, infielder Mikey Romero, lefty Payton Tolle, outfielder Allan Castro and No. 29 and No. 30 prospects Hayden Mullins and Zach Ehrhard. Philadelphia Phillies No. 2 prospect Aidan Miller stars alongside No. 12 ranked Jean Cabrera, No. 15 Carson DeMartini and No. 25 Hendry Mendez.

The Fightin Phils return home from Friday, July 18, through Sunday July 27. July 18-20 will feature a matchup against the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. It will also feature an appearance by Swoggle, with VIP tickets available. Saturday is a Carpenter MEGA Blast Fireworks Show, presented by Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, honoring Emergency Responders; and its also a tribute to Margaritaville, with the R-Phils wearing special Margaritaville Jerseys.
