Mustangs welcome newest staff member

Homer to make Mustangs debut June 21
June 14, 2010

BILLINGS, MT - Today the Billings Mustangs introduced "Homer" as the newest member of the organization. Homer will serve as the club's official mascot.

Homer is the collaborative creative effort of the Mustangs and Street Characters Inc., a mascot design and production company. The character itself is an animated, yearling colt that walks, runs and occasionally dances on two legs. Homer stands 16 hands tall measured from his size 19 sneakers to his Mustangs cap. Homer's most distinctive physical features are his large sky blue eyes, soft portly belly and wispy black mane and tail.

"We're excited and looking forward to having Homer as a member of the Mustangs family," said Mustangs General Manager Gary Roller. "He's big, he's colorful and he's definitely a character. We feel that he is a great addition to not only the in-game entertainment, but he will also extend our presence in the Billings community and surrounding areas beyond the final out of the season in September. Homer will make both scheduled and unscheduled appearances throughout the course of the year, and fans will never be certain as to exactly when and where he will show up."

In addition to seeing him perform during Mustangs games at Dehler Park, fans can also connect with Homer by following him on Twitter www.twitter.com/homermustang and Facebook www.facebook.com/homermustang. Fans can upload photos and video of Homer on Facebook.

Homer was unavailable for comment, but mentioned through text message that he can't wait to see the photos and videos fans will upload to his Facebook page.

"We believe that fans of all ages will love and embrace Homer," added Roller. "He's very approachable and quite friendly, and best of all, unlike some horses, he doesn't kick or bite."

The Mustangs open the 2010 season on Monday, June 21 when the Great Falls Voyagers visit Dehler Park for a 4-game series. Individual game tickets can be purchased in person at the Mustangs Box Office, over the telephone or online at www.billingsmustangs.com.
