Burlington, NC - The Burlington Royals (25-41) won a thrilling 1-0 contest over the Bluefield Blue Jays (40-26) on Monday night on the back of Yerelmy Garcia's complete game, three-hit shutout.
Burlington scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a dropped fly ball by Bluefield right-fielder DJ Neal.
The Blue Jays had a chance to tie the game up in the top of the ninth on a misplayed fly ball by right-fielder Isaiah Henry, but Henry recovered and threw out DJ Neala at home to seal the victory.
The two teams will face-off again on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Burlington Athletic Stadium.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
