Johnson City, Tenn. - The Royals stayed hot in game two of their three-game series with the Cardinals, taking the Tuesday night matchup 10-1.
Just two batters into the ballgame, Burlington second baseman Michael Massey smacked an RBI single that plated Mikey Filia. Logan Porter followed with a two-run double and William Hancock tacked on another single to plate Porter and give the Royals a 4-0 lead after the first.
Later, in the top of the third, Vinnie Pasquantino launched a solo homer to right for his tenth of the season to pad Burlington's edge to 5-0.
Johnson City responded in the bottom of the third, cutting the deficit to 5-1 on a Trejyn Fletcher RBI triple.
After that, however, the game belonged to the Royals. A Porter RBI triple, Hancock RBI double and David Hollie RBI single made it 8-1 Burlington. In the top of the sixth, Hollie drove in two more runs on a single to bring the lead to 10-1.
B-Royals starter Marlin Willis held to Cards to just one run on three hits while striking out six en route to make his first decision of 2019 for Burlington a win. On the other side, Johnson City right-hander Julio Puello was charged with the loss after surrendering eight runs on 11 hits and falls to 3-3 on the year.
The Royals aim to sweep the Cardinals in the final meeting of their three-game set on Wednesday. First pitch at TVA Credit Union Ballpark is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
