Royals Name Orton New Assistant General Manager

Burlington, NC - The Burlington Royals are proud to announce the hiring of Jared Orton as the team's new assistant general manager. Orton joins the Royals after spending this past season with the Gastonia Grizzlies as the Fun Executive. Orton, 22, started with the Royals in 2012 as a summer intern while he was an undergraduate at Belmont Abbey College. A native of Burlington, NC he graduated from Belmont Abbey with a degree in sport management in May 2013 while working with the Grizzlies. While working in Gastonia, Jared focused on fan experience and helped the team finish fourth in overall attendance nationally on the summer collegiate circuit.

Orton joins General Manager Ryan Keur on staff as the full- time employees of the Burlington Royals. Keur, 24 took over as the General Manager for Ben Abzug in September. Over the past two seasons with Keur and Abzug at the helm, average attendance grew by nearly 50 percent and stadium improvements such as a new beer stand and new second- tier of outfield wall were erected. Orton stated that he "was excited to return home to the place where he grew up watching games while joining Keur on staff". He's excited to "bring an experience that is unlike any other" to Burlington and to "put on a show every single night". Orton's responsibilities will include overseeing the daily business operation, the internship program and the overall implementation and execution of promotions to increase fan experience at the ballpark.
