KINGSPORT, TN - The Burlington Royals (24-41) completed a three-game sweep of the Kingsport Mets (32-33) with a 9-5 win Sunday night.
The Royals got off to a hot start, scoring two runs in the first inning. Eric Cole and Freddy Fermin had RBIs to make it 2-0.
Burlington added two more runs in the fourth, when Chris Hudgins doubled in a run and then scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 4-0.
After the K-Mets scored runs in the fourth and fifth to cut the deficit to 4-2, the Royals put up five tallies in the sixth. Montae Bradshaw, Eric Cole and Fermin all had RBIs in the big inning. The B-Royals went on to win the game 9-5.
Burlington will conclude the season with a three-game home series against the Bluefield Blue Jays beginning Monday night. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
