PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (June 5, 2018) - Lucius Fox drove in three runs Tuesday but the Dunedin Blue Jays came back to beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs 9-5 at Charlotte Sports Park.
Fox finished the night 3-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases.
Charlotte (25-29) second baseman Tristan Gray stroked three doubles on the night, drawing a walk and driving in a run. His first inning double preceded a Dunedin (23-32) error, which brought him home to make it 1-0 Stone Crabs.
With Charlotte still leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Bradley Jones and Nash Knight both singled for the Jays before Kacy Clemens reached on an error to load the bases. Dunedin catcher Riley Adams followed by launching a grand slam to left, making it 4-1 Blue Jays.
Charlotte starter Brendan McKay (2-2) allowed four runs (three earned) over 3.2 innings, striking out five without walking a batter.
After the Stone Crabs made it 4-2 in the fifth on a Fox infield single, Dunedin scored on an RBI single from Josh Palacios in the seventh to make it 5-2.
Blue Jays starting pitcher Tayler Saucedo (4-3) went 6.2 innings to earn the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits.
Down two in the bottom of the seventh, Kevin Padlo doubled down the left field line with out. Fox followed with a two-out single to left to plate Padlo and cut the deficit to 5-3. The next batter was Gray, who lifted a two-bagger to left center to bring the score to 5-4.
However, the Blue Jays rallied for four runs on four hits in the ninth to put the game away and win 9-5.
