Playoff Procedures

Playoff format

The division winner with the best record plays the wild card team (the team with the best overall winning percentage among those teams who were not division winners) and the other two division winners meet in a one game semi-final. The winners meet in a best-of-three final for the Gulf Coast League championship.

Playoff Tiebreakers

Note that winning percentage determines the overall winner, division winners, wild card and seeding. To determine the best overall winning percentage between separate division winners, (no game would be played):

Tie involving two or more teams from different divisions:

1. Average runs allowed per game
2. Average runs scored per game
3. Best run differential

To determine a division winner:

Tie involving two teams:

1. The two teams will meet in a one game sudden death playoff to determine the division winner. A coin toss will decide the home team.

Tie involving more than two teams (no game would be played):

1. Average runs allowed per game
2. Average runs scored per game
3. Best run differential

To determine the wild card team (no game would be played):

Tie involving two teams from different divisions

1. Average runs allowed per game
2. Average runs scored per game
3. Best run differential

Tie involving two teams from the same division:

1. Best record in head-to-head meetings
2. Best run differential in head-to-head meetings
3. Winner of final meeting of the season between the two clubs

Tie involving more than two teams from the same/different divisions:

1. Average runs allowed per game
2. Average runs scored per game
3. Best run differential
