70-game home schedule at Municipal Stadium features five summer holidays

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns, Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce their 2018 South Atlantic League schedule, featuring 70 home games at historic Municipal Stadium in downtown Hagerstown. 
Opening Day at Muni is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The opening seven-game homestand includes four games against the 'Hoppers and three contests with the in-state rival Delmarva Shorebirds, Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. 
For the first time since 2015, the Suns will open their 140-game SAL season on the road. The Suns begin their campaign in the Southern Division on Thursday, April 5 with four games against the Rome Braves followed by a three-game series against the Columbia Fireflies. 
Suns fans can celebrate five summer holidays at Muni in 2018, beginning with a Mother's Day game on May 13 against the Charleston RiverDogs, Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The Suns will honor America on Memorial Day weekend with a four-game series against Greensboro that includes the Monday holiday. Father's Day weekend begins on Friday, June 15 with the first of three games against the Fireflies. 
July is jam-packed with 16 home games; more than any other month for the Suns in 2018. Independence Day celebrations will begin on June 30 with a four-game weekend series against the West Virginia Power, Class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and a postgame fireworks spectacular in the skies above Hagerstown is scheduled for July 3. 
The Suns will wrap up their regular season with a Labor Day contest against the division-rival Kannapolis Intimidators on September 3 and the SAL Playoffs begin September 5. Hagerstown will play 95 games against SAL Northern Division foes including 25 games with the Lakewood BlueClaws; more than any other team on the schedule.
