Andrew Heaney Ks nine in season debut
May 20, 2013

JUPITER, Fla. - Austin Barnes' pinch-hit, two-run double broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning, lifting Jupiter to a 4-1 win over the Daytona Cubs Monday night at Roger Dean Stadium.

Ryan Rieger singled to lead off the eighth. Wilfredo Gimenez followed with a bunt single of his own. Two batters and a wild pitch later, Ryan McIntyre walked to load the bases for the pinch-hitting Barnes. Barnes looped an Eduardo Figueroa offering down the right field line, giving Jupiter a two-run lead. Brent Keys added an insurance run with an RBI single before RHP Jordan Conley closed the door in the ninth for his fourth save of the season.

The game was delayed 62 minutes in the sixth inning due to rain.

Making his season debut, 2012 first-round pick LHP Andrew Heaney started and pitched 4.1 innings for Jupiter, striking out nine. He yielded four hits and two walks, throwing 49 of 77 pitches (64 percent) for strikes. Heaney was lifted for RHP Kevin Cravey after Daytona's leadoff hitter, Jon Andreoli, reached on a fielding error with one out in the fifth. A Javier Baez double scored Andreoli, tacking one unearned run to Heaney's pitching line.

Batting third in the Hammerheads' lineup on a Major League rehab assignment, Logan Morrison went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles.

Gimenez and Keys also had two hits each. Keys drove in Jupiter's first run of the game in the second inning and stole a base.

Also pitching in his 2013 debut, Daytona's LHP Kyler Burke yielded one run on four hits and two walks in five innings.

Zeke DeVoss and Baez combined for four of the Cubs' six hits.

Monday night marked Jupiter's ninth-straight win, tying their season-best streak from April 28 to May 7. The Hammerheads have now won 18 of their last 21, pulling within one-half game of the St. Lucie Mets for second place in the Florida State League South Division standings.

The Hammerheads and Cubs will play game two of their four-game set Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Jupiter's RHP Anthony DeSclafani (4-1, 1.29 ERA) will oppose Daytona's RHP P.J. Francescon (3-3, 5.85). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
