Hammerheads win two out of three vs Fort Myers

Norwood records 5th multi-hit game in last 10 games

Jupiter, FL - Partly cloudy Sunday afternoon in Jupiter, Florida and the Hammerheads (66-65, 35-28) finish up their regular season match up with the Fort Myers Miracle (67-65, 33-30) in game number 18 of the regular season between Southern Divisional foes.

A pitcher's duel commenced between the Miracle's Keaton Steele (W, 7-11 - 3.66 ERA) and your Hammerheads Hunter Adkins (ND, 0-0- 3.12). Steele earned the win with six innings of five hit baseball, fanning four batters and one walk, just one run that was unearned the only blemish against the Miracle on the day.

John Norwood went 2-for-4, back-to-back multiple hit ballgames and his 5th multiple hit game in the last 10 games, moving his batting average up to .268 on the season (team lead). Taylor Ard completed his afternoon 1-for-4 with two strikeouts, Avery Romero 1-for-4 and Rony Cabrera with a run scored on one walk in four plate appearances.

The Miracle win the season series, 10-8, with the final of 5-1, but the Hammerheads remain a-half game up in the Southern Division standings with the Mets splitting a double header day at Tradition Field against the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Jose Quijada (L, 1-2 - 5.40 ERA) gets the loss, surrendering three runs, all earned as the 1-1 tie was broken open in the top of the 7th inning. Three more runs were tacked on two against Quijada and one against Andy Beltre who struggled in his two-thirds of an inning with one run on one bit and two walks, but one strikeout.

On Deck

The Hammerheads hit the road to Bradenton (68-62, 30-32) for the final three against the Marauders, Jeff Brigham (6-7, 3.87 ERA) is scheduled to get the ball in game one, James Buckelew (5-1, 2.29 ERA) for game two and Scott Squier (5-0, 3.54 ERA) for game three.

The Sharks return home for one final time on Thursday, September 1st to face the second place St. Lucie Mets (69-60, 34-28). Hammerheads host game one, games two through four of that four game split series will take place at Tradition Field to finish out the regular season.
