The Sharks strike back, take second game

Jupiter, FL - Jupiter Hammerheads (63-64, 32-27) dropped game one against the Bradenton Marauders (67-60, 29-30) and looked to battle back in the series by dealing Bradenton their 30th loss of the second half of the season.

Jeremias Pineda went 3-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI's including his first triple of the season. Rodrigo Vigil completed his night 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI as two batters were responsible for half of the Hammerheads six runs on the evening, 6-1 victory at Roger Dean Stadium.

Jupiter now sits in first place within the Southern Division second half title race, tied with St. Lucie (66-58, 31-26). The offense which was held without a hit much of game one's contest with Bradenton knocked 12 hits including a double for Dexter Kjerstad (15th) and John Norwood (20th) as well as RBI's for Junior Sosa (19th), Rodrigo Vigil (8th), Justin Bohn (25th) and Jeremias Pineda (15th).

Jeff Brigham (W, 6-7 - 3.87 ERA) was outstanding, not relenting a hit until the top of the 5th inning. Brigham allowed one earned run and four hits during his seven innings, with four strikeouts and one home run as he grabbed his sixth winning decision of the season.

The Hammerheads went for 5-for-15, with nine left on-base in total. Steven Farnworth (S, 1- 0.00 ERA) fired the final two frames, with one hit against, one walk and one strikeout. In total Brigham and Farnworth retired five strikeouts and limited the Marauders to just five hits.

Brigham tossed 90 pitches which is his second highest total for pitches delivered, with 93 at Daytona on June 12th. Avery Romero worked a 2-for-3, one run, John Norwood finished the night 2-for-5 and Justin Bohn went 1-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.

Bradenton's starting pitcher Austin Coley (L, 12-9- 4.70 ERA) worked four innings, six hits and four earned runs, three strikeouts in the loss.

The Hammerheads move to 8-6 against Bradenton and look to add another tomorrow with Stephen Tarpley (6-3, 4.40 ERA) on the mound for Bradenton facing your Hammerheads' James Buckelew (4-1, 2.46 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Let's Have a Party Thursday at Roger Dean Stadium.
