Jupiter, FL. - The Jupiter Hammerheads take their first loss in the final series of 2018 to the St. Lucie Mets, losing 4-0. Tieing the final series at 1-1. St. Lucie took an early one-run lead in the second inning, added two additional runs in the third and scored their final run in the eighth inning. With the loss, the 'Heads fall to 70-64 on the season.
Taking the mound was right handed pitcher, Josh Roeder (6-6, 3.63 ERA). Roeder threw eighty-six pitches, sixty-eight for strikes. He faced twenty-five batters striking out five of them. Esmerling De La Rosa (0-3, 4.70 ERA) would come in for an inning of work, allowing one hit on twelve pitches while facing four batters. Reilly Hovis (2-1, 3.58 ERA) came in to face four batters. Hovis struck out one batter, walked one and allowed two hits. Vinecenzo Aiello (4-1, 4.76 ERA) closed the game for the Hammerheads. Aiello would face five batters striking out four of them. Sixteen of his twenty-five pitches were strikes.
Hammerhead bats were pretty quiet for the night. Corey Bird walked in the sixth inning and James Nelson, Gunnar Schubert, Harrison Dinicola all record a hit. As a team the Hammerheads left 12 runners on base.
