The Hammerheads were able to salvage a victory on Wednesday as they split a doubleheader with Lakeland.
In game one, seven innings was not enough as the teams were tied at one. Lakeland pulled ahead for good in the eighth, scoring four runs in the final frame.
Jorge Guzman put together a solid start in his eighth appearance for Jupiter. The flamethrower lowered his season ERA to 2.21 after six innings pitched with just an unearned run given up.
All five of the Hammerheads' hits in game one came from five different players.
Game two was another low run scoring affair with the ballgame's only runs coming from a two-run homer by John SIlviano.
Jupiter's pitching shined in a combined one-hitter.
Starter Esmerling De La Rosa threw four shutout innings allowing just one hit and no walks. He struck out three hitters.
Jorgan Cavanerio earned his first victory of the season after throwing two perfect innings, striking out three.
Chad Smith threw a hitless seventh to earn his third save of the season, however made things interesting by walking three Tigers. Nevertheless, the Hammerheads escaped with a victory.
