Defensive struggles that included six errors in the first three inning for Jupiter created a deficit the offensive could not recover from in an 8-2 loss.
Jupiter's starting pitcher, Dustin Beggs, threw six innings and allowed just one earned run. The right-hander kept his composure despite the defense allowing four unearned runs in his start. Beggs is now 0-2 on the season with a 0.95 ERA in 19 innings pitched.
Vincenzo Aiello replaced Beggs in the seventh inning and struck out two Stonecrabs batters, but allowed three earned runs off of two hits. Esmerling De La Rosa pitched the final two innings of the game as he was able to hold Charlotte scoreless with only one hit.
Although the Hammerheads were outscored by six runs they only had two less hits then the Stonecrabs.
Riley Mahan and Jhonny Santos both had two hit games with Roy Morales and Aaron Knapp each recording a hit and scoring a run.
Saturday night Jupiter struggled again with runners in scoring position, going 1-12 on the night.
Jupiter looks to comeback from those defensive woes on Sunday afternoon as they finish up the series against Charlotte at 1 PM from Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Tickets and more information can be found at Rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com/tickets-events.
