In the third and final game of the series, Jupiter lost in a high scoring affair against Palm Beach 11-6.
Palm Beach began its scoring early with nine total runs scored in the second, third, and fourth innings. The Jupiter pitching staff has seen better outings this season, giving up 13 hits and allowing a total of 19 Palm Beach baserunners in today's matchup. The defense was all around shaky as balls were both fumbled and lost in the sun various times.
The Hammerheads began to cut into the Cardinals nine run lead with the help of John Silviano's solo homer in the fourth which put Jupiter on the board.
After a scoreless fifth inning from both teams, Palm Beach's offense continued its scoring on a two run RBI double from Brian O'Keefe in the sixth.
The Hammerheads were persistent in their attempts at a comeback scoring four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Brian Miller led the way offensively for Jupiter in the sixth hitting a two run RBI double with the bases loaded.
Stone Garrett left the game accompanied with a trainer in the top of the forth after diving for a pop fly in left field.
Starting pitcher Brady Puckett also left the game with a trainer after suffering an apparent injury while warming up for his second inning.
Chad Smith entered the game for the Hammerheads in the top of the eighth and did not allow Palm Beach's lead to grow any longer. Smith pitched two innings giving up zero runs as well as striking out the cardinals final three batters in the top of the ninth.
Jupiter lost the Series against Palm Beach 2-1 but the effort and resilience late in this game trailing down 9-1 shows why the team has 34 wins and sits atop the rest of the south.
A new Series for the Hammerheads begins Monday night at Rodger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Tickets and more information can be found at Rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com/tickets-events
