The Palm Beach Cardinals are excited to announce that on Wednesday, July 24th, the club will have the oldest bat boy of Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium's history on duty as 71-year-old Don Mackay will serve the role for the Cardinals. Palm Beach takes on St. Lucie at 6:30 pm from Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
At 71-years young, the longtime Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium employee Don Mackay, will take-over the bat boy reigns for the evening. It's a fitting night for the spectacle as the Cardinals host the popular Silver Sluggers promotion, for fans 55 and older, who will be in attendance taking in the Florida State League action and playing baseball bingo.
Wednesday's are HUMANA Silver Sluggers nights where seniors 55+, with an annual member fee, get in free of charge, receive a complimentary hot dog and soda, and play in-game bingo all during the course of an exciting baseball game.
A former basketball player and longtime basketball coach, Mackay keeps himself in excellent physical condition through long distance running and an active, healthy lifestyle.
In the 15 years that Mackay has loyally worked at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, serving as a bat boy is one of the few things he hasn't done.
"Getting back on the baseball field after many years and being part of the actual game again, will be a thrill," exclaimed Mackay.
