Young powers Palm Beach to win over St. Lucie

Andy Young's eighth inning, two-run home run turned out to be the difference maker in a 3-1 victory over St. Lucie on Thursday. 
Palm Beach (52-40) was first on the board in the third inning when Brian O'Keefe hit an RBI single to right.
The Mets (37-57) only run of the night came on a double play that brought home a run in the fifth.
Besides the small blemish, starter Jake Walsh was lights out. The Indialantic, Florida native did not allow an earned run in 5 1/3 strong innings. He allowed four hits, three walks and struck out one.
Out of the bullpen, Jason Zgardowski and Colton Thomson kept the Mets off the board with each tossing a scoreless inning. 
The Mets threatened in the eighth with runners on first and second and one out. With a ground ball hit to Danny Hudzina, he flipped it to Stefan Trosclair over at second for the force out, who then threw home in time to get Luis Carpio who was trying to score out.
It was a big play as in the bottom half of the frame as the Cardinals rallied with two outs yet again. Brian O'Keefe hit his second base hit of the night and Andy Young brought him home with his 12th homer of the season.
Yeison Medina (2-1), who got those final two outs in the eighth, pitched a scoreless ninth giving the Cardinals their 52nd victory of the season.
Chase Pinder, Stefan Trosclair and Brian O'Keefe all had two hits with O'Keefe and Pinder also reaching via a walk. 
The teams will play game two of a three game series on Friday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
