Jupiter, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals (50-38, 10-11) lost 3-2 in the tenth inning to the Jupiter Hammerheads (45-44, 12-9) in a pitching duel at Roger Dean Stadium.
Ben Meyer and Connor Jones battled back and forth as they each tossed five scoreless innings, giving up a few singles here and there throughout those frames. Jupiter jumped on the board first in the sixth inning. Mason Davis started the frame with a single and stole second base. Miguel Rojas then doubled to get Davis to third. Jupiter then loaded the bases with nobody out on an Angel Reyes strike out. Jones struck out Dustin Geiger before giving the ball over to Jacob Evans. Evans got Boo Vazquez to ground out to first, but Davis beat the throw home to make it a 1-0 game.
Jupiter struck again in the eighth to make it 2-0. Rojas walked and Reyes got hit by a pitch. Geiger then doubled in Rojas to give the Hammerheads the two run lead.
Palm Beach fought back in the bottom of the ninth as they tied the game at two on a two out rally. Jose Martinez started it with a double. Blake Drake and Shane Billings then loaded the bases with singles of their own. Casey Turgeon came to the plate and drove in two runs to take the game into the tenth.
Jupiter got the lead back in the top of the tenth as Vasquez doubled as Stone Garrett drove him on a single to centerfield to give Jupiter the 3-2 lead. Ryan Beckman walked one in the bottom of the tenth, but held on to the 3-2 lead for his first save of the season.
