Jupiter, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals (50-37, 10-10) lost game one of doubleheader by a final of 8-1 and lost 4-1 in game two against the Jupiter Hammerhead (44-44, 11-9).
Game one started last night and was suspended in the bottom of the first after Jupiter took a 2-0 lead on a walk and two doubles. They added three more runs in the fifth to make it 5-0 as Dustin Geiger hit a three-run home run off Ross Vance who started the game in the first inning after it resumed.
James Buckelew held the Cardinals hitless until Chris Chinea got a hit in the bottom of the fifth. Palm Beach would get on the board in the sixth as Blake Drake and Shane Billings hit back-to-back singles. Thomas Spitz then hit a single in the hole at shortstop and Cleuluis Rondon threw the ball wide allowing Drake to score and make it 5-1. Jupiter then scored two runs in the eight and another in the ninth to put the game out of reach for Palm Beach at 8-1.
Jordan Hicks got the start in game two, his first since advancing to the High-A Palm Beach Cardinals. He gave up three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out seven over five innings of work.
Jupiter put two runs up on the board in the second as Boo Vazquez and Brian Schales started the inning with a pair of singles. Rondon hit a double to make it 2-0. Jupiter added another run in the third to make it 3-0.
Gunner Pollman hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded and nobody out in the sixth to make it a 6-0 save.
Blake Drake broke up the shutout on a home run over the left field wall to make it a 4-1 game, but it was not enough as Tyler Kinley recorded his ninth save on the season and Jupiter won 4-1.
