David Garcia named 2013 P-Rays "Most Popular Player"

September 4, 2013

As part of an annual tradition with professional baseball teams in Princeton since 1991, P-Rays' infielder David Garcia was announced as the "2013 Princeton Rays' Most Popular Player" just prior to the team's final home game of the season on August 24.

Garcia received a plaque on the field from P-Rays' General Manager Jim Holland commemorating this honor immediately after his selection as the top vote-getter for 2013 was revealed to those in attendance.

The winner of the contest each year is determined through season-long fan voting by using only official ballots that appeared in all 2013 Princeton Rays' program/yearbooks.

There is a long list of prior "Most Popular Player" winners extending over the bulk of Princeton's franchise history and they are (top vote-getter each season): 1991-Toby Rumfield, 1992-Dan Frye, 1993-Jhonny Carvajal, 1994-Jhonny Carvajal, 1995-David Guthrie, 1996-Brandon O'Hearn, 1997-Paul Hoover, 1998-Humberto Cota, 1999-Josh Hamilton, 2000-Kelly Eddlemon, 2001-Jonny Gomes, 2002-Jason Pridie, 2003-Travis Beech, 2004-Alex Crooks, 2005-Epi DeLeon, 2006-Henry Wrigley, 2007-Omar Luna, 2008-Eli Sonoqui, 2009-Ryan Wiegand, 2010-Kevin Kiermaier, 2011-Drew Vettleson, 2012-Reid Redman, and 2013-David Garcia.
