MIDLAND, Tx. -- A 2019 Florida State League All-Star for High-A Palm Beach, RHP Alex FaGalde dominated the Midland RockHounds (34-35) in his Double-A debut on Monday, leading the Springfield Cardinals (30-40) to the 3-0 shutout win with 8.0 scoreless, two-hit innings.

With the win, the Cardinals close the 1st Half with a five-game winning streak, tied for their longest winning streak of the season. The 2nd Half of the season begins on Tuesday with the Cardinals continuing the series in Midland.

DECISIONS:
W: RHP Alex FaGalde (1-0)
L: RHP Kyle Friedrichs (1-3)
S: RHP Junior Fernandez (5)

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
-Neither side struck against either starter until the Cardinals scored the game's only runs in the top of the 7th. With RF Johan Mieses at first and one away, 1B Zach Kirtley belted an RBI double to center, before scoing on the next pitch when DH Chase Pinder pulled an RBI single to left. One out later, Pinder raced home from first on an RBI double by 3B Alberto Triunfel to make it 3-0.

NOTABLES:
-RHP Alex FaGalde was nearly unhittable in his Double-A debut, allowing just two singles and one walk in 8.0 shutout innings. He never allowed more than one RockHound on base at the same time and struck out the final two batters of his eighth frame, needing only 80 pitches (55 strikes) overall.

-RF Johan Mieses went 2x4 with a pair of singles and sparked the 7th inning rally with a base hit.

-1B Zach Kirtley's RBI double in the 7th is already his 5th double in just his first 11 Double-A games.
