January 24, 2013
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs have named the on-field coaching staff that will guide the Class-A Advanced team for the 2013 season.

Taking over as the Stone Crabs manager is Brady Williams. Williams joins Charlotte after serving the previous three years as the manager of Class-A Bowling Green.

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity of being in Port Charlotte," said Williams. "I plan on continuing to build on the success the Stone Crabs have had over the past four seasons."

The Florida native has spent the past seven seasons coaching in the ranks of the Rays organization after playing five years of minor league ball with the Rays, Boston Red Sox, and Minnesota Twins. He was originally drafted by Boston in the 45th round of the 1999 draft.

Also moving up from Bowling Green is pitching coach Bill Moloney who begins his seventh season coaching in the Rays system. Moloney previously served as the Stone Crabs pitching coach in 2009. Prior to his time with Tampa Bay, the Massachusetts native spent six years as a pitching coach in the Reds system and 21 years in the Red Sox system, including six as a player.

Returning to the Stone Crabs staff for his fifth season is batting coach Joe Szekely. This is Szekely's ninth season in the Rays organization.

Trainer Scott Thurston also returns for his second year with the Stone Crabs and his sixth in the Rays system.
