The Columbus Clippers were defeated 12-9 by the Buffalo Bisons in an extra-innings slugfest Wednesday afternoon at Huntington Park. The teams combined for 28 hits and eight home runs as the visitors evened the series at one game apiece.
Johnathan Rodriguez hit his second homer of the season in the 1st inning; then Jose Tena and Micah Pries went back-to-back in the 4th, but the Clippers still trailed 7-4. It was 8-5 heading into the bottom of the 9th inning, when Tena went deep again with two men on to tie things up.
After having made quick work of the Bisons in the 9th, left-hander Randy Labaut (1-3) struggled in the 10th inning, ultimately surrendering a grand slam to Orelvis Martinez that put the game out of reach.
The series continues between the Clippers and Bisons at Huntington Park on “Thirsty Thursday” with first pitch scheduled for 6:15pm. Tickets are available at ClippersBaseball.com.
