On Friday night, the Columbus Clippers won their second straight game on the road against the Syracuse Mets at NBT Bank Stadium. Columbus prevailed 7-5 in the back-and-forth affair.

Jhonkensy Noel’s two-run blast in the 8th inning made the difference. The home run was the third of the season for Noel and his 30th total in a Clippers uniform. Jose Tena, who went 3-for-5, and Kyle Manzardo both also drove in a pair of runs for the ClipShow.

Starting pitcher Hunter Stanley fanned three Mets over 3.1 innings. Five relievers saw action for the Clippers. Mason Hickman (1-0) earned his first career Triple-A victory, while Peter Strzelecki picked up his second save of the season with a perfect 9th inning. The final batter of the game was Syracuse’s Mark Vientos, who successfully overturned two strike calls before a Columbus challenge on the last pitch created the game ending third strike.

The series between the Clippers and Mets in Syracuse continues Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05pm. Columbus returns home on April 30 when the Toledo Mud Hens come to town for Tanksy Tuesday Dime-A-Dog Night. Tickets are available at ClippersBaseball.com.
