Travs Sweep Missions After 7-1 Win

Arkansas wins five straight to finish road trip, remains in first place

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Arkansas Travelers had a little bit of everything in Sunday night's 7-1 victory to complete the three-game sweep of the San Antonio Missions from Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.

The win made it five in a row for the Travelers who completed their second three-game sweep of the Missions on the 2015 season.

RHP Chris Ellis (W, 6-3) earned his sixth Double-A win and 10th overall on his 2015 season by surrendering a lone unearned run on just two hits with three walks and six strikeouts across six innings of winning baseball.

LHP Chris O'Grady (H, 11) earned his Texas League-leading 11th hold of the year by working a pair of 1-2-3 innings on Sunday night, not allowing a single hit or walk while tying his season-high with four strikeouts.

RHP Austin Wood retired the side in order with one strikeout in the bottom of the ninth to finish off the ballgame for the Travelers in a non-save situation.

RHP Aaron Northcraft (L, 1-1) was saddled with the loss for the Missions after surrendering four runs (all earned) on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts in his three innings of work.

The Travelers opened up the scoring by plating a pair of runs against the righty Northcraft in the top of the third. A wild pitch by Northcraft allowed the game's first run to score, while 2B Sherman Johnsonguided a two-out RBI single through the right side to make it 2-0 Travelers when the top of the third inning came to a close.

Arkansas added two more on one deft swing of the bat from 3B Brian Hernandez (HR, 7), with his two-run blast to left doubling the lead to 4-0 Arkansas after four and a half innings.

After San Antonio got its lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, Arkansas struck for three more runs in the top of the ninth, two of which came on C Anthony Bemboom's (HR, 5) blast off of RHP Adam Cimber to right field.

Every Traveler in the starting lineup finished with at least one hit, with Bemboom's two hits leading the way for Arkansas on Sunday night.

The Travelers also finished with a season-high six stolen bases, all of which came within the first four innings. RF Blake Gailen and CF Chad Hinshaw each swiped a pair of bases, with LF Ruben Sosaand SS Erick Salcedo stealing one bag apiece.

The Travelers now will head back home for an off day on Monday, before starting up a four-game homestand against the Tulsa Drillers on Tuesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. at Dickey-Stephens Park.
