Late runs by Erie spoils Reading's comeback

(Erie, PA) - The Reading Fightin Phils (25-34) fought back after an early deficit to only see it go away late as the Erie SeaWolves (25-34) won 6-4 on Friday night at UPMC Park. The Fightin Phils have lost three straight games while the SeaWolves have won five straight.
The SeaWolves wasted no time getting on the score board in the bottom of the first inning as they scored four runs off Harold Arauz . Josh Lester , Kade Scivicque and Danny Woodrow all hit RBI singles off Arauz to give Erie the early lead.
Jan Hernandez hit a three-run home run off Erie starting pitcher Anthony Castro in the top of the third inning to cut the SeaWolves lead to 4-3. Heiker Meneses and Cord Sandberg both scored on the home run hit by Hernandez. The home run was Hernandez's sixth home run of the season. Meneses tied the game at 4-4 off Castro in the top of the fourth inning. He hit a sacrifice fly to score Cornelius Randolph with one out in the inning.
Arauz retired the final 16 of the 17 batters he faced. He struck out six batters over six innings while allowing four runs off six hits. The SeaWolves scored two runs off Ranfi Casimiro (2-2) in the bottom of the eighth inning as Scivicque and Harold Castro hit back-to-back RBI singles to give Erie a 6-4 lead. Luke Leftwich struck out Jacob Robson for the final out of the inning.
Matt Hall (2-2) earned the win for Erie as he pitched four scoreless innings in relief of Castro and struck out nine batters.
