PawSox Fall in Ten Innings

April 15, 2012

The PawSox squandered a 9-3 lead on Sunday afternoon, falling in ten innings to Buffalo, 10-9. The 4 hour and 8 minute marathon was marred by the twelve walks issued by Pawtucket pitchers. Clayton Mortensen (0-1) took the loss, allowing the game winning base hit to Jordany Valdespin. Adam Loewen had an epic day, with 3 hits in 4 at bats. He belted two home runs including a sixth inning grand slam. Loewen finished with 6 RBI.

The PawSox offense got rolling early, highlighted by a 6 run fourth inning. Lars Anderson, Mauro Gomez and Will Middlebrooks had 2 RBI apiece. The loss snapped a three game winning streak for the PawSox, now 6-5. Meanwhile, Buffalo won for the first time in four games.

Reliever Andrew Miller, on a Major League rehab asignment, labored. The lefty worked just 1/3 of an inning, walking three, striking out 1, allowing a hit. Miller threw 29 pitches, just 11 for strikes.

The PawSox head to Syracuse for a four game series that begins on Monday at 6:00 p.m. Ross Ohlendorf (1-0, 0.00) faces Tanner Roark (0-2, 6.30).
