PawSox Come Up Short Again

The Pawtucket Red Sox are in the midst of a 10 game road trip and things aren't going well. Toledo beat the PawSox 6-4 on Thursday night in Ohio. The Sox have lost 7 of their last 8 games. Once again, they fell behind early, trailing 4-0 after 4 innings. In the fifth, Mauro Gomez belted a two-run homer for the PawSox, his ninth of the year. Gomez has tied Will Middlebrooks for the team lead and is tied with Matt LaPorta of Columbus for the league lead among active players. Gomez added another RBI with a single in the seventh. Pawtucket scored its' final run on a Daniel Nava grounder in the ninth.

Tony Pena made the start and allowed three runs in three innings. Pena (0-3) scattered 7 hits. Junichi Tazawa was sensational in relief. Tazawa struck out 5 in two and a third scoreless innings.

The PawSox will try to salvage the finale on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Thad Weber (2-0) faces Justin Germano (2-1).
