Clippers Snap PawSox Win Streak at 5

May 14, 2012

The PawSox failed in their bid to win a sixth consecutive game on Monday afternoon at McCoy Stadium, losing to Columbus, 5-3. A pair of errors lead to a 5 run sixth inning for the Clippers, a deficit the PawSox couldn't over come. Justin Germano pitched well but was tagged with the loss. Germano (4-2) allowed the 5 runs (1 earned) as his ERA actually dropped from 2.29 to 2.18 for the season. Matt LaPorta, fresh off a three game suspension, delivered the big blow, a three run home run.

Lars Anderson nailed a line drive home run into the rightfield stands. It was his second homer of the season. Scott Podsednik had two of the six Pawtucket hits.

The PawSox had won nine of ten before the loss. The club heads south for an 8 game road trip that starts in Durham, North Carloina. Game one is Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Brandon Duckworth (4-0) faces Matt Torra (2-4).
