Tolleson Called Up by Dodgers

June 6, 2012
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are proud to announce that on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers promoted former Quakes' reliever Shawn Tolleson to their major league roster.

When Tolleson takes the hill, he will not only be making his major league debut, but he'll become the first former Quake in the Dodger era to make his big league debut for Los Angeles.

Tolleson, a 30th-round pick out of Baylor back in 2010, has rocketed through the Dodgers' system, making a five-game stop in Rancho Cucamonga in 2011. For the Quakes, Tolleson was brilliant, picking up three saves and two wins in his five games pitched, while allowing just one earned run over 9 2/3 innings. Tolleson punched out 17 hitters, while walking just three, before getting promoted to Double-A Chattanooga, where he spent the remainder of the 2011 season.

This year, Tolleson has split time between Chattanooga and Triple-A Albuquerque, collecting five saves while carrying a 2.82 ERA over 19 games between the two levels.

Tolleson will most likely make his much-anticipated debut in one of two cities, as the Dodgers are in Philadelphia on both Wednesday and Thursday, before traveling to Seattle for an interleague weekend series.

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes return to The Epicenter on Friday, June 8th, when they open a six-game home stand. Friday, June 8th is Quakes Cooler Bag Giveaway, thanks to Safeco Insurance. Tickets are available by calling 909-481-5000 online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
