PawSox Lose Series Finale 8-6 in 13 Innings

In a 13 inning game that lasted 4 hours and 41 minutes with a combined 24 hits, the PawSox fell short of a sweep over Indianapolis in the series finale as they lost to 8-6 at McCoy Stadium.

Indians' Starling Marte scored two runners on a single to left field and put the Indians ahead in the 13th inning. Che-Hsaun Lin led the team with three hits, including two triples. Pedro Ciriaco and Ryan Kalish had two hits each. Mauro Gomez (13) hit a three run homerun in the third inning that got the PawSox on the board and Thomas (4) homered to center in the sixth to tie the game up 4-4.

Back to back doubles in the ninth by Kalish (2) and Ciriaco (6) tied the game at 5. Ciriaco doubled down the left field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a double over the center fielder's head. Che-Hsaun Lin had back to back triples (10th and 12th inning) and scored on Josh Kroeger's first hit of the night to tie the game at 6-6 in the twelfth. Kroeger replaced Ronald Bermudez in the eighth inning.

Daniel Bard made his first start tonight with the PawSox after being optioned from Boston June 7. He pitched one inning and gave up two hits, two runs and had two strike-outs. Will Inman (1-1) took the loss. He gave up two hits, three runs (2 earned) and struck out two in two innings. Kris Johnson (3-0) picked up the win for the Indians in three innings pitched and gave up two hits and one run.

The first game of a 4-game series with the Gwinnet Braves (33-29) will begin tomorrow (Saturday) at 6:05 pm, followed by a 1:05 pm start on Sunday and a pair of night games on Monday and Tuesday (both at 7:05 pm) to conclude the 8-game home stand. Tony Pena Jr. (0-3, 6.91) faces Julio Teheran (5-2, 3.15).
