Ciriaco Helps Lead PawSox to Victory

June 15, 2012

The Pawtucket Red Sox have begun an 8 game road trip through upstate New York in fine fashion, starting 2-0 with an 8-3 laugher over the Bisons. With the win, the PawSox (43-25) are a season-high 18 games over .500 for the year. Four home runs for the potent offense was enough to tilt the scales. Pedro Ciriaco started the proceedings with a leadoff homer in the top of the first. Ciriaco went 4-5, scoring three times and knocking a pair of runs. In the third inning, Tony Thomas made it 2-0 with his fifth homer of the year. An inning later, Ryan Kalish lined his fourth homer (in 8 games) over the right field fence. In the ninth, Lars Anderson capped the scoring with his ninth of the season, a solo shot. Lars and Alex Hassan added RBI singles.

Pitching was a huge factor again for Pawtucket. Justin Germano (8-3) went five and two thirds innings for the win. Germano scattered 4 hits and allowed one run. Alex Wilson, Tony Pena and Will Inman combined to allow two runs the rest of the way. In the first two games of the series, the PawSox have held the Bisons to three runs on ten hits.

The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Jeurys Familia (5-3) faces Billy Buckner (0-1).
