RedHawks outfly the Redbirds

Memphis allows four runs in first inning

Oklahoma City, OK- One night after scoring a season-high 20 runs, the Redbirds could not capitalize with runners in scoring position, and fell to the RedHawks 6-2 on Sunday at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks jumped out to an early lead on Redbirds starter Tyler Lyons, who finished with nine strikeouts in five-total innings of work, including settling in to pitch four shutout innings, but fell to 0-3 on the year.

Galarraga pitched six innings and scattered seven hits with five strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the year.

Fernando Martinez connected on a two-run triple to open the first inning while the next batter, Brett Wallace, brought Martinez in with a sacrifice-fly. Marwin Gonzalez then smashed a solo home run to left field, his first of the season, to give OKC the early 4-0 lead.

Memphis scored its two runs in the second inning as Eugenio Velez delivered a two-run home run to left off Armando Galarraga, his 11th long ball of the year.

The RedHawks wrapped up the game scoring one run in both the sixth and seventh innings against Memphis reliever Sam Freeman, fresh off his return to the Memphis Redbirds from the St. Louis Cardinals.

Adron Chambers followed his five-hit performance on Saturday with three more on Sunday.

Notes: Matt Adams is day-to-day with a right elbow injury. He was lifted after two at-bats Saturday night.
