Sadler Sparkles as Maraduers Win

Paulino's homer aids M's in fourth straight win
July 4, 2012

Jupiter, Fla.- The Bradenton Marauders (9-5) received another tremendous pitching performance en route to a 7-4 win against the Palm Beach Cardinals (6-8) Wednesday at Roger Dean Stadium. Casey Sadler (W, 1-3) pitched seven scoreless innings to earn his first win. Sadler allowed six hits, struck out three and never allowed a runner to make it past second. The win matches the Marauders' longest winning streak of the season at four games.

The Marauders got on the board early. Gift Ngoepe tripled with one out in the first and scored on a grounder to short be Mel Rojas Jr. The Marauders pecked away at Chris Corrigan (L, 2-3), knocking the righty out in the fifth.

After loading the bases and coming away empty in the third, the Marauders scored twice in the fourth. Alex Dickerson's RBI-single in the fifth chased Corrigan. The Marauders loaded the bases but Iden Nazario escaped with the score 4-0.

In the seventh, a two-out error allowed Carlos Paulino to come up with two aboard. Paulino homered off the foul pole, his third of the year. Those runs proved critical as the Cardinals plated four runs on five hits and two errors in the ninth against Zach Foster.

Kenn Kasparek followed Sadler's effort with a scoreless eighth. Kasparek struck out two. Dan Grovatt doubled in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to eight games for another Marauders' highlight.

The series continues Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:30pm.
