Memphis, TN- The Nashville Sounds scored four runs in the fifth inning, and despite a late charge by the Memphis Redbirds, pulled out the 6-4 win at AutoZone Park on Wednesday.

"One big inning for them did us in," Memphis manager Ron "Pop" Warner said. "The bullpen gave us a chance and we couldn't get it done with the tying run on in the ninth."

In his Nashville debut, Tyler Thornburg picked up the win with a five-inning, two-run, six-strikeout performance.

Dickson gave himself the lead for Memphis in the third when he connected on an RBI single that scored Nick Derba from second, but Nashville quickly took the lead right back scoring four runs in the fifth. Eric Farris got things started with an RBI single, while two batters later, Caleb Gindl, connected on an RBI double. Corey Patterson blew the inning wide open smashing a two-run home run to right field to give the Sounds the 4-1 lead.

Steven Hill gave the 'Birds life in the eighth with his two-run single, but Jim Henderson closed out the ninth for the Sounds while picking up his ninth save of the year.
