Cain More Than Able Against Cards

Lefty blanks Palm Beach through seven
July 5, 2012

Jupiter, Fla.- Another great starting pitching performance powered the Marauders (10-5) to their fifth straight victory Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Colton Cain (W, 3-5) stifled the Palm Beach Cardinals (6-9) for seven innings as the Marauders won 6-0. The win was the Marauders sixth shutout of the season.

Cain allowed five hits and walked three, but three double play grounders kept the lefty from seeing much trouble. Cain struck out two in his longest start of the season.

The Marauders pounded out 11 hits for a second straight night. Alex Dickerson went 2-3 with a double and three RBIs. Elevys Gonzalez and Justin Howard also turned in multi-hit games to send Bradley Watson (L, 0-3) to a third straight losing decision.

Dan Grovatt doubled in the seventh inning to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Grovatt has had exactly one hit in the last six games of his streak.

The Marauders wrap up the series Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is at 6:35pm. The game will be broadcast on News Talk 930 WLSS and online on WLSSradio.com.
