Frogs Win Game 2 Against Dust Devils, 5-1

Everett extends winning streak to six games
July 14, 2012
EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox won the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dust Devils by a score of 5-1 on a clear night at Memorial Stadium. The Sox needed just five hits behind starter Steven Ewing to seal their sixth consecutive win.

Ewing gave up just two hits and struck out six while walking three in five innings of work to earn the win. The only scuff to the southpaw's start was in the second inning when the Dust Devils loaded the bases and worked a walk to score their only run of the game.

On the offensive side of the ball, outfielder Janelfry Zorilla hit a three-run homer in the home half of the second inning to take a 3-1 lead.

The Sox added to their lead with two more runs in the fourth. Patrick Kivlehan began the inning with a line-drive single to extend his hitting streak to seven games; the Rutgers alumnus carries the top slugging percentage in the league at .533 and has taken over the cleanup spot in the AquaSox lineup.

Everett relievers Brandon Plotz and Grady Wood each tossed a perfect inning with two strikeouts to seal the 5-1 victory.

The Sox will look for the five-game sweep Sunday before taking off for an eight-game road trip. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. and right-hander Ambioris Hidalgo will take the hill for the Sox, opposed by the right-hander Shane Broyles of Tri-City.
